MISTER BISHAN SINGAPORE NELSON LEE CROWNED MISTER SINGAPORE 2009
DURING THE PAGEANT HELD AT ZIRCA

Singapore, October 9, 2009 - This evening, during one of the year's most exciting annual events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Mister Bishan Singapore Nelson Lee as MISTER SINGAPORE 2009 at the 10th Annual MISTER SINGAPORE pageant from Zirca.

22-year-old Nelson was born in Singapore but migrated to Melbourne, Australia when he was 10. He was also a national swimmer and tennis player with the Victoria All Boys team. Due to national service, he returned to his birth place to serve his duties. After completing his degree in Biomedical Science from Bradford University, Nelson worked as a scientist and hopes to advance in the field of Biomedical Research and Development. He was also voted one of 50 most gorgeous men in Singapore last year.

The judging panel for the MISTER SINGAPORE 2009 pageant included: Shenzi Chua, Founder and Director of NewUrbanMale.com; George Leong, renown music composer, producer and arranger; Chris Chew, Owner of fitness portal SgFitness.com; Ken Hong, award winning hairstylist and Creative Director of Anthony Hair Boutique; Lim Yi Fang, Senior Marketing Executive of Cannery Leisure; Longcheng Low; Chairman for Love, a fundraising gala organized by Action for AIDS; and Clarissa Ellice Rae Lim, Miss Singapore Global City 2007.

Throughout the two-hour event, the contestants competed in three categories: swimwear, evening wear and interview. During these competitions, the “Top Five” were selected before the crowning. MISTER SINGAPORE 2008 Alex Zhang crowned his successor at the conclusion of the pageant, before an estimated viewing audience of more than 1,200.

Final Results:

First Runner-up: Mister Punggol Singapore Tang Jin Wei, will assume the duties of MISTER SINGAPORE 2009 if the Titleholder is named MISTER INTERNATIONAL 2009 or for some reason cannot fulfill his duties.

Second Runner-up: Mister Tampines Singapore Kingsley Ang

Third Runner-up: Mister Marine Parade Singapore Nicholas Teo

Fourth Runner-up: Mister Jurong Singapore Darryl Goh

Photography by Cobalt Mister Photogenic Singapore Award: Mister Punggol Singapore Tang Jin Wei. The general public voted on www.MisterSingapore.sg for the contestant who exemplifies handsomeness through the lens of a camera. He was awarded a fashion portfolio from Photography by Cobalt.

Mister Congeniality Singapore Award: Mister Tampines Singapore Kingsley Ang. The award reflects the respect and admiration of the contestant’s peers, who voted for him as the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational contestant. He was awarded a $ 250 cash prize.

Mister Spirit Singapore Award: Mister Bukit Batok Singapore Allan Loh. This award is presented to the contestant selected for his outstanding qualities such as character, sportsmanship, achievement, personal growth, and a willingness to promote the positive aspects of competition. He was awarded a $ 250 cash prize.

NewUrbanMale.com Ambassador Award: Mister Tampines Singapore Kingsley Ang. This is presented to the contestant who best represents the style of NewUrbanMale.com. He was awarded a $ 500 shopping spree from NewUrbanMale.com.

Thomas D'Esthetique Face Award: Mister Bishan Singapore Nelson Lee. This is presented to the contestant who best represents the image of Thomas D'Esthetique. He was awarded skin and body care services valued at $ 1,000 from Thomas D’Esthetique.

Thomas D'Esthetique Hot Bod Award: Mister Sengkang Singapore Isaac Wong. This is presented to the contestant who best represents the image of Thomas D'Esthetique. He was awarded skin and body care services valued at $ 1,000 from Thomas D’Esthetique.
