BUKIT BATOK SINGAPORE DENNIS LAU CROWNED MISTER SINGAPORE 2006
DURING THE PAGEANT HELD AT THE PAVILION

The Pavilion @ Far East Square, May 20, 2006 - This evening, during one of the year's most exciting annual events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Mister Bukit Batok Singapore Dennis Lau as MISTER SINGAPORE 2006.

The 23-year-old contestant from Bukit Batok won the judges’ votes at the conclusion of the 7th annual pageant that took place from The Pavilion @ Far East Square. Dennis is a Material Science and Engineering student at Nanyang Technological University. He won over $ 65,000 in cash and prizes and will also go on to represent Singapore and play host to more than 30 countries at the first annual MISTER INTERNATIONAL pageant to be held in Singapore from October 1 to 8, 2006.

MISTER SINGAPORE 2006 was chosen by a panel of celebrity judges which included: Director of 77th Street and CEO/Master Trainer of SgFitness.com Chris Chew, Director of Carrie Models International Jane Liong, Renowned Photographer Cedric Lim, Assistant President of Dream Forest Studio Andy Kwan, International Makeup Artists Clarence Lee, International Celebrity Hairstylist Dexter Ng, Glassblower and Official MISTER SINGAPORE trophy sponsor Galen, Miss Singapore Universe 1986 Farah Lange, Founder and Director of NewUrbanMale.com Shenzi Chua, Renowned Photographer Joshua Tan and Community Partnership Manager of Children’s Cancer Foundation Betty Lee.

Throughout the two-hour event, the contestants competed in three categories: swimwear, evening wear and interview. During these competitions, the Top Five Finalists were selected before the crowning. MISTER SINGAPORE 2005 Raphael Yang crowned his successor at the conclusion of the pageant, before an estimated viewing audience of more than 500, followed by worldwide viewing audience via MisterSingapore.Org, the Mister Singapore Organization Web site.

Final Results:

First Runner-up: Mister Hougang Singapore Gordon Tan will assume the duties of MISTER SINGAPORE 2006 if the Titleholder is named MISTER INTERNATIONAL 2006 or for some reason cannot fulfill his responsibilities.

Second Runner-up: Mister Serangoon Singapore Dennis Ang

Third Runner-up: Mister Ang Mo Kio Singapore Eugene Chan

Fourth Runner-up: Mister Woodlands Singapore Dylan Lee

Rest of Top Ten: Mister Ayer Rajah Singapore Kevin Tay, Mister Bishan Singapore Iain Choi, Mister Clementi Singapore Kenneth Loh, Mister Sengkang Singapore Gaston Ng and Mister Simei Singapore Clement Ong

• Jabs Waterboys Fashion Swimwear and Fitness Award: Mister Hougang Singapore Gordon Tan. This is presented to the winner of the Jabs Waterboys Swimwear and Fitness Competition.
• Mister Photogenic Singapore Award: Mister Clementi Singapore Kenneth Loh. The general public voted on www.MisterSingapore.Org for the contestant who exemplifies handsomeness through the lens of a camera.
• Mister Congeniality Singapore Award: Mister Bishan Singapore Iain Choi. The award reflects the respect and admiration of the contestant’s peers, who voted for him as the most congenial, charismatic and inspirational contestant.
• Mister Spirit Singapore Award: Mister Bedok Singapore Terence Thaddeus Lew. This award is given to the contestant selected for his outstanding qualities such as character, sportsmanship, achievement, personal growth, and a willingness to promote the positive aspects of competition.
