INTERVIEW
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or planning to do to accomplish that goal?
I would love to become a pilot and also a freelance sport trainer. I am planning to take up a double degree in Aviation, and Sports and Fitness in a University in Australia after my national service. This double degree would award me both a private pilot license (PPL), a commercial pilot license (CPL) and a coaching license.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Cheating death! Being an outdoor adventure freak, I love to do all kinds of outdoor activities especially rock climbing. I actually rock climbed once without a belayer and I did a self-belay in one of the rock walls in a company where I used to work. If I had fallen completely (which I almost did but thankfully I had my upper body strength to cling onto the wall and lower hand clinching onto the rappel rope), I would not be here today.
What is your strongest quality?
I am one person who loves to learn as many new things as possible, especially things I desire for. There is a huge quest for me in wanting to conquer every course subject matters to boost up my knowledge, and that builds up my inner strength which is also my strongest attribute in me.
My belief stands for: "Money cannot buy knowledge or skills. It can only buy you the services such as the course but you have to work hard to gain that expertise. Knowledge is power, money is a monetary asset. When you are young, you should go out and penetrate into the market place by learning as many things as you can. You may not have the opportunity when you are older. Therefore, use this irreversible opportunity when you are at your youth as there will be no turning back once you are older."
As for my quests for knowledge of what I really love to have, I never fail to give up on what I am really passionate and desire for and what I really want to achieve out of my passion. People have said that I have a strong mindset and perseverance. And I can be very determined in achieving the goals that I set out to do.
Name one personal accomplishment that makes you especially proud.
I won the Spirit of Enterprise (SOE) Best Student Interviewer award. Basically, I had to conduct interviews on a sample of local entrepreneurs and to do a write up about their business profile. It was a prestigious award which I won when I was in the army. Even though I am no longer a student at Nanyang Polytechnic, I can still see that the award has brought me pride and a sense of glory to the institution which I came from. The experience of doing a write-up has enabled me to learn a couple of business strategies from different entrepreneurs. And because of that award, I still gain recognition from the school, peers and lecturers which make me feel that I am like the ambassador of the institution.
What is the most important thing you want the judges to know about you?
I may be not be as hunky as the other contestants but I can still be the best of what I can be in the pageant. |
