How old are the pageants? |
MISTER SINGAPORE began in 2000 while MISTER INTERNATIONAL made its debut in 2006. |
Are these pageants separate from the Manhunt pageant? |
Yes. Although some men compete in both MISTER SINGAPORE and Manhunt, the two systems are completely separate. MISTER SINGAPORE goes on to represent Singapore at MISTER INTERNATIONAL. |
Who produces the pageants? |
MISTER SINGAPORE and MISTER INTERNATIONAL are produced by the Mister Singapore Organization. |
Who co-produces the pageants? |
MISTER SINGAPORE and MISTER INTERNATIONAL are co-produced by One Men Show. |
When are the pageants held? |
MISTER SINGAPORE is always the first pageant of the year and is generally held in May or June. MISTER INTERNATIONAL follows in October or November. |
Are the pageants held in a different place each year? |
Yes. MISTER SINGAPORE and MISTER INTERNATIONAL are separate pageants that are held in different locations around Singapore and the world. |
How are the sites chosen? |
The Mister Singapore Organization works throughout the year with private enterprise, estate and city government officials and, in the case of MISTER INTERNATIONAL, with foreign governments to establish the Host Site for each pageant. The venue or country offering the optimal venue and support to the organization is chosen. |
How are the contestants selected to compete in each pageant? |
For MISTER SINGAPORE, the contestants are selected through auditions, which are produced by the Mister Singapore Organization to compete in the pageant. MISTER INTERNATIONAL contestants must win their respective national titles in their countries to compete in the pageant. In the case of Singapore, MISTER SINGAPORE goes on to represent Singapore at MISTER INTERNATIONAL. |
How many contestants are selected to compete in each pageant? |
For MISTER SINGAPORE, 20 contestants are selected to compete in the pageant. In the case of MISTER INTERNATIONAL, between 40 and 50 countries send a contestant to compete. |
Are there age requirements contestants must meet? |
Yes. MISTER SINGAPORE and MISTER INTERNATIONAL contestants must be at least 18 years old and under 30 (by January 1 in the year they participate in the national pageant). |
May a contestant compete more than once? |
No. Contestants may only compete in MISTER SINGAPORE and MISTER INTERNATIONAL once. |
Are the contestants required to have a coach or some pageant experience? |
No. While some feel more prepared when they work with an experienced person who can give them tips on competition, many men have won titles without any outside training. The Mister Singapore Organization will provide the MISTER SINGAPORE contestants with the confidence and experience needed to compete. In the case of MISTER INTERNATIONAL, contestants can turn to their national directors for assistance. |
Can contestants be married? |
No. Contestants may not be married or father a child. They must not have ever been married, not had a marriage annulled nor fathered a child. The Titleholders are also required to remain single throughout their term. |
How are the MISTER SINGAPORE Top Ten chosen? |
All MISTER SINGAPORE contestants are judged in three areas of preliminary competition: |
- Interviews - Judges spend time with each contestant to learn about his successes, goals and ambitions.
- Swimwear Competition - Each contestant wears one of a variety of swimwear styles provided by a sponsor.
- Evening Wear Competition - Each contestant wears an evening wear he has chosen for himself.
All scores are entered and are then tallied in each of the three categories. The contestants with the 10 highest aggregate scores are named the Top Ten during the final competition. |
How are the MISTER INTERNATIONAL Top Fifteen chosen? |
All MISTER INTERNATIONAL contestants are judged in three areas of preliminary competition: |
- Interviews - Judges spend time with each contestant to learn about his successes, goals and ambitions.
- Swimwear Competition - Each contestant wears one of a variety of swimwear styles provided by a sponsor.
- Evening Wear Competition - Each contestant wears an evening wear he has chosen for himself.
All scores are entered and are then tallied in each of the three categories. The contestants with the 15 highest aggregate scores are named the Top Fifteen during the final competition. |
How are the Titleholders and Runners-up chosen? |
Once the Top Ten/Fifteen are named, their preliminary scores are discarded, and they begin competing anew. In the final competition, the same three areas are judged. The judges' scores in these categories are tallied and the Titleholders and Runners-up are named live on stage. |
What prizes do the Titleholders receive? |
Each Titleholder is awarded cash and prizes from the pageant's official sponsors. |
What happens to the Titleholders after they are named? |
Part of each Titleholder's prize package is an employment contract with the Mister Singapore Organization. To fulfill that contract, the Titleholder becomes a representative of the company for one year.
MISTER SINGAPORE and MISTER INTERNATIONAL are given opportunities to travel the world, meeting notable and accomplished people, speaking on behalf of the company, meeting with charitable organizations and appearing at events held by official sponsors. MISTER SINGAPORE goes on to represent Singapore at MISTER INTERNATIONAL.
